Endoscopy Training Programme

Welcome to the East of England Endoscopy Training Centre at the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital

The Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital is one of 10 Regional Centres of Excellence in the UK for Endoscopy Training accredited by the Joint Advisory Group on GI Endoscopy (JAG). We offer a range of courses suitable for consultants, SpR's in gastroenterology or surgery, nurse endoscopists, and GP's.

 Forthcoming Courses

FOUNDATION COURSES IN GASTROINTESTINAL ENDOSCOPY

These are 3 day Gastroscopy and Flexible Sigmoidoscopy courses aimed at: Consultants, SpR's in Gastroenterology and Surgery, Nurse Endoscopists, GP's and who have access to a regular procedure list.

BASIC SKILLS COURSES IN COLONOSCOPY

These are three day multidisciplinary courses suitable for 1st or 2nd years SpR's in Gastroenterology and  year 4 or 5 SpR Colorectal Surgery, and others such as Nurse Endoscopists and GP's.  It is essential that all applicants have access to a weekly colonoscopy list for a six month period after the course.

INTERMEDIATE SKILLS IN COLONOSCOPY

These are three day multidisciplinary courses suitable for Associate Specialists, 2nd year SpR's in Gastroenterology and year 4 & 5 Colorectal Surgery, and others such as Nurse Endoscopists and GP's with a minimum of 100 colonoscopies and at least a 50% Caecal intubation rate. It is essential that all applicants have access to a weekly colonoscopy list for a six month period after the course.

TRAINING THE ENDOSCOPIC TRAINERS

These are two day multidisciplinary courses suitable for experienced Endoscopists (SpR's and Consultants) who are involved in teaching and training various Endoscopic skills. The course aims to equip participants with the skills to train their trainees in the base hospital. It is also a pre-requisite for aspiring faculty members on the National Endoscopy Programme.
