Haematology Department
Welcome to the Haematology department website. Haematology is the branch of medicine and pathology that is concerned with the study of blood, the blood-forming organs and blood diseases (see Blood). Here at the NNUH the department delivers a comprehensive haematological service which is able to manage both common and rare blood disorders. We manage a large diagnostic laboratory service (see Laboratory Medicine) providing a broad range of routine and specialist blood testing.

There are six consultant haematologists (see The Team) at the NNUH who provide diagnostic, treatment and follow up services for patients with blood disorders. The department also has 4 middle grade doctors, 2 junior doctors, 5 clinical nurse specialists, 3 transfusion specialist practitioners and 8 Anticoagulation Nurse Specialists. Two Clinical Oncologists Dr Helen Stubbings Dr Adrian Harnett also support the department. The clinicians are ably supported by a team of admin staff.

Usually our inpatients are managed on Mulbarton Ward. Emergency admissions will usually come in via the Acute Medical Unit (AMU).
