PRAYERS

A PRAYER FOR THE ELDERLY :

"Eternal God, we rejoice in your promise that as our day is, so shall our strength be;
and we ask your help for all who are old and wearied with the burden of life.
in your strength may they find courage and peace;
and in their advancing years may they learn more of your love;
through Jesus Christ our Lord
. AMEN."

A PRAYER FOR THE YOUNG:

"Loving God, bless all our young ones.
Help us to realise what a gift we have been given,
and that we should invest in them our love.
Watch over those whom you have taken to yourself;
and enable us all to see our world as through the eyes of a child.
AMEN."

A PRAYER FOR PATIENTS:

"God of love,
make your self known to me as I enter this hospital.
Help me to adjust to this new manner of life.
Give me gratitude for those who care for me,
compassion for those in the ward with me,
love for all who I may meet here,
and your presence that I might know your healing touch.
 AMEN."
John Gunstone (adapted)

A PRAYER FOR CARERS, NURSES & DOCTORS:

"Lord Jesus, who healed the sick and gave them new life,
be with doctors, nurses and carers as they act as agents of your healing touch.
In desperate times keep them strong yet loving and,
when their work is done,
be with them in their weariness and in their tears.
AMEN."
Althea Hayton (adapted)

A PRAYER FOR THOSE WHO SUFFER:

"Lord we bring before you all who suffer, especially those whose ailments are concealed.
Pour out upon them your healing love; surround the frightened with your tenderness;
give strength to those in pain; hold the weak in your arms of love;
and give hope and patience to those who are recovering.
In your name we pray. AMEN."
A prayer from the Rochester diocese & Christine McMullen (adapted)
