Young Persons Unit (YPU)

We now have designated beds on Cringleford Ward specifically for our younger patients aged between 16 -21 years.

The aim of the YPU is to bridge the gap between children’s and adult services by providing an environment more suitable for young people. Patients will still remain under the appropriate speciality clinical teams.

The YPU has access to a dedicated play specialist who has experience in working with teenagers.

Each room has on en-suite bathroom. Rooms also have bedside radio, TV and telephone and access to wi-fi, all of which are free to use.

Meals are served to you by a ward hostess in your own room and your family/carers and friends can visit whenever you wish. There are facilities for parents to stay overnight if this is required.

A minimum charge for car parking is available for parents/carers for the first week of a hospital stay and free of charge after seven days. Please ask a member of ward staff to validate your car parking ticket accordingly.

Visiting Details

There is restricted visiting between the hours of 1.00pm and 2.00pm. Visiting at other times can be made by prior arrangement with the Ward Sister.
