NNUH helps patients to celebrates Jubilee
Babies born on Saturday 2nd June on the Maternity Led Birthing Unit will be presented with hats and booties knitted by staff from the unit.
The hospital Chaplaincy team will be holding two events. On Sunday 3rd June, there will be a 10.30am service in the Chapel with a Jubilee theme followed by another on Tuesday 5th June, where the 10.30am service from St Pauls Cathedral will be broadcast on the big-screen TV in the chapel. Patients are being invited to come to a sing along, wear hats and tiaras, and wave flags! The Chapel will be open to visitors on the afternoon of 5th June when they can see a collage of photos of The Queen, write on Where Were You? memory boards, listen to songs from throughout The Queens reign, and share in tea and cake.
The Serco Catering Teams at NNUH will be serving "High Tea" on the wards at 2.00pm on Tuesday 5th June with fresh fruit scones, fresh cream and preserves, and a decorated Jubilee cake for each ward, served by staff wearing Jubilee hats from specially decorated tea trolleys. There will also be a celebratory tea party on Elsing Ward, which cares for elderly patients.
Two Jubilee television programmes will be shown free of charge to patients:
- Sunday 3rd June, 2pm to 6pm Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant; over one thousand boats will muster on the River Thames in preparation for Her Majesty the Queen to take part in the pageant.
- Tuesday, 5th June, 10am to 4pm Starts with a Service of Thanksgiving at St Pauls at 10.30 a.m., followed by a carriage procession through Whitehall and Trafalgar Square, finishing at Buckingham Palace. Shortly after their arrival, the Royal Family will appear on the Balcony and a RAF Fly past will take place.
