Soothing sounds will be floating through the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for the benefit of patients and staff next week in a partnership between the NHS and the School of Music at the University of East Anglia.

Music by Mozart, Schumann and Francisco Gomez will be performed on September 29th between 1 and 2.30pm by UEA music students Amy Robinson (Clarinet) and Benjamin Lee (Piano) in the West Atrium of the hospital.

The free recital has been organised in partnership with the UEA, the hospital, and Serco, who will be laying on a special internationally-themed lunchtime menu in the hospital's restaurant. The recital is part and parcel of work done by the hospital's arts project to enhance the environment for patients and staff.

Music can help relax people and improve their recovery by boosting well-being.  Chairman David Prior said: "The good news is that next week there will be music in the hospital - nothing is more soothing, peaceful and inspirational. The even better news is that it is not Mantovani or Barry Manilow. Instead two students from the UEA School of Music will be playing pieces from Mozart and Schumann on the Clarinet and the Piano. It will be sublime. Don't miss it.”

Amy and Ben play beautifully together, and this concert, together with the others in the series, will give our students valuable experience of performing, while bringing pleasure to hospital staff, patients and visitors.”
