Top health and safety award for NNUH

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital NHS Trust has won a prestigious Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Occupational Health and Safety Award for 2007.

The hospital trust won the Healthcare Services Sector award at a ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel, National Exhibition Centre during Safety & Health Expo 2007, the UK’s premier health and safety at work exhibition.

The RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2007 are sponsored by NEBOSH (The National Examination Board in Occupation Safety and Health), the leading health and safety professional examining body.

David Rawlins, RoSPA Awards Manager said; "The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital NHS Trust has demonstrated how seriously they take health and safety management and are a fine example to many other companies. We would like to see more organisations following their lead by providing a positive example".

NNUH Lead Health and Safety Advisor Lynne Ainge said: "We are really proud to have received this award which is a reflection of the ongoing positive changes in health and safety culture throughout the Trust. Awareness of the key health and safety issues is increasing within all levels of staff and a recent external health and safety audit evidenced the continuing improvements in health and safety management throughout the organisation."
