Donation for prostate research at NNUH
Members of the Mancroft Lodge of the Freemasons raised £1,200 for research into prostate cancer at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital with a series of social events. And this week the master of the Lodge, Terry Hewitt, paid a visit to the hospital to present a cheque to urology consultants Mr Neil Burgess and Mr Stuart Irving.
Theres a great deal of research and screening for breast cancer but very little for prostate cancer, said Mr Hewitt. We wanted to support the urology team at NNUH and to raise the profile of prostate cancer because men are still very reluctant to come forward and have tests.
Mr Neil Burgess commented: We are delighted to receive this cheque on behalf of the masons we will put it to good use with training and education programmes and also research projects designed to improve our patient care.”
