NNUH has been shortlisted for a ‘Thrombus Innovation Award’

The Anticoagulation and Thrombosis team at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have been shortlisted for an award for the work they have done to promote venous thromboembolism (VTE) awareness to both staff at patients with their "Click for Clots" campaign.

The campaign involved the design of an eye catching logo, a dedicated site on the Trust intranet for staff to access guidelines, forms and useful links on VTE as well as information for leaflets patients. The Click for Clots campaign was launched in February 2010 and was supported by an information stand at the NNUH with members of the Anticoagulation team wearing Click for Clots T-shirts and handing out Click for Clots badges.

Since the launch of Click for Clots, the inpatient Thromboprophylaxis Risk Assessment completion jumped from 46% in January (having been 37% in the preceding few months) to 75% in February and is now over 90%.

Dr Peter Woodhouse, Consultant Physician and Chair of the Thromboprophylaxis and Thrombosis Committee said "we are delighted to have been shortlisted for this award which comes as a result of the hard work and dedication of a multidisciplainary team of doctors, nurses, pharmacists and the Trusts IT Web team.

The winners will be annouced at a ceremony at the Royal Society of Medicine in London on 30th July 2010.
