Hospital Arts has two new key partners Ormiston Victory Academy and NANSA artshoproject.
Our first highly successful project with Ormiston Victory Academy involved many students who worked over there summer holidays gathering information, talking to their older friends and relatives and creating artworks which formed the basis of an animated film working with annimator Matthew Harrison.
NANSA artshoproject is opening a new gallery at 1 Earlham House. NANSA will be working on collaborative exhibitions with Hospital Arts. Hospital Arts is lending it's full support to the artshoproject which is innovative and exciting venture which will help many in the community.

FromThe biggest album Led Zeppelin ever created Physical Graffiti...
Artist Peter Corriston worked with designer Mike Doud to convince Led Zeppelin manager, Peter Grant, that the cover art idea was a good one. Unlikely as it may seem, the concept was itself heavily influenced by the design for Jose Felicianos album, Compartments. The new version was created by using a photograph of a New York apartment block, situated at 97 St. Marks Place. The building is still standing today. In the basement is a second-hand clothes shop. The name of the shop is, naturally, Physical Graffiti.
THE landmark Led Zeppelin gig Knebworth 1979...
On two successive weekends in August 1979, Led Zeppelin performed their legendary concerts in the grounds of Knebworth House in Hertfordshire. These would become their last-ever live shows in the UK. Following the untimely death of John Bonham these shows and the album, In Through The Out Door, would become their unintentional swansong.
Visually constructed with the help of long time Hipgnosis colleague, Richard Evans, the new art was then delivered to Brad Faine at Coriander, for him to proof the fine art print.

It's a jolly Olly Day: the Norfolk entertainer who compered last night's variety show for Cromer Hospital's art appeal.
Cromer show-goers help put the art into new hospital
A near sell-out variety show at Cromers Pavilion Theatre last night has given an appeal for the towns new hospital a doubly-grand launch.
More than 450 people packed the end-of-the-pier venue for a night of good old-fashioned variety which is expected to have raised between £2,000 and £2,500 to provide art works at the new Cromer Hospital, which is now under construction.
Chris Bailey, who organised the show with Emma Jarvis, Arts o-ordinator for Cromer Hospitals parent body, the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals, said: It was a highly-successful night with over 90 percent of seats taken and the acts all got a warm response.
The all-Norfolk show was compared by magician and entertainer Olly Day and also featured young dancers from Marlenes School of Dance, Keith Skipper, Elvis and the Bluesueders, blues soul and jazz group the Stilhouettes, and young string quartet Fame.
For £14.50 people got a good two-and-a-half hours entertainment and had a thoroughly-enjoyable evening, added Mr Bailey.
There are many exciting fundraising events on the cards involving many highly enthusiastic and supportive North Norfolk Artists including a fashion show which is also planned for the art appeal to will be held at the Mundesley Manor hotel on June 3rd and a fundraising arts based project with NOVA the North Norfolk Organisation for Visual Artists.
Hospital Arts is also hopes to run a project with schools and colleges; Sherringham and Cromer High Schools, Gresham College in Holt and Paston College in North Walsham.
Funding is the key to our projects taking place.

The Hospital Arts Project would like to introduce you to our Serco workforce who contribute greatly to our work behind the scenes. Work is underway on Cringleford Ward. The scheme has been based on the works of Alfonse Mucha who was a leading artist of the Art Nouveau movement. Featured is a designed tree by Kate Green. Images by Alfonse Mucha himself have been donated by the Mucha Foundation and the Bridgeman Art Library in London. The Hospital Arts Project continues working with our PFI partners Octagon and Serco on the refurbishment programme. Our next project involves creating a new and fresh scheme for Cringleford Ward. The Mucha Foundation has generously both consented to Hospital Arts using images by Alfonse Mucha and will also provide these images. Mucha was a leading artist in the Art Neavou period which will be featured around the central nurses station hub of the ward. The Hospital Arts Project is about to embark on a major fundraising campaign for the installation of artworks into the Critical Care Complex and High Dependency Units. The schedule of works is yet to be released however fundraising needs to begin as early as possible! Local Photographer Martin Figura is amongst our forthcoming exhibitors with his series 'Man's Army'. 'Man's Army' was created between 1992 and 1997 during his final five years in the Army. It was created as part of a residency in Horden Victory Club the residency and final exhibition was commissioned by the Side Gallery. 'Man's Army' has toured widely in the UK and Spain. Closer look at Natural World
15th November 2010
In the theme of many of our current projects Hospital Arts is taking a closer at our natural world. Our latest exhibition on Level 1 of the Main Hospital Street reveals a vibrant and exciting venture into the natural world of little creatures and critters. Sally Gulbrandsen, born and raised in South Africa now lives and works in Norfolk. Sallys intimate images of beetles, bugs and butterflies has caught the attention of our staff brining the spring into the Hospital during the cold months.
Sally writes "My photography is an expression of this world and in this exhibition I include some of the little creatures and critters I come across in nature. I was introduced to digital photography only a few years ago and more recently to macro photography. I have literally been bitten 'by the bug'. These little creatures have begun to play an important part in my life and in my photography. I try to bring out some of their character by capturing them 'in action'. This sometimes produces some unexpected results and more often than not brings a smile to my face".

Time capsule for Cromer
27th August 2010
A range of artwork celebrating the natural beauty of North Norfolk will be commissioned to complement the new Cromer and District Hospital in time for its opening in the autumn of 2012.
THE RACE is now on to find £100,000 charity funding for this unique Hospital Arts Project, with a variety evening planned for Cromer Pier on Saturday 19 March 2011 and an appeal to local businesses and individuals to support the project. This is a fantastic opportunity to create a time capsule for Cromer, drawing on the history of the area to create artworks that will uplift and inspire patients and visitors".
At Cromer we want to combine much-loved pieces that are part of the hospitals heritage with a range of brand new artworks to complement the modern architecture and reflect the natural beauty of North Norfolk. The artworks will follow three main themes: sky, sea and land. Its hoped that Norfolk artist Gary Breeze will provide a steel sculpture for the main entrance to celebrate the breadth and spirit of the sky. On the approach to the new entrance, a retaining wall shielding the refurbished Barclay and Davison wards will be decorated with a mural on the theme of the sea, while an inner courtyard will reflect the land and history of North Norfolk. Artists for these and other public areas have yet to be chosen and will be commissioned once funding is available. The £15 million project has been made possible by the generous legacies of Sagle Bernstein, who left £11.4 million to Cromer and District Hospital in 2001, and Phyllis Cox, who left £1.3 million in 2004.
The much loved portrait of Lady Battersea, one of Cromer and District Hospitals original benefactors, has been restored for display in the new hospital alongside contemporary artworks including a sculpture by Gary Breeze to celebrate the spirit of the sky. One of Garys recent commissions is pictured.

We are looking forward to exhibiting a retrospective exhibition of prints by Laurie Rudling. Laurie will be exhibiting his work on the Main Hospital Street Level 2 during May, June and July.

I draw more from the realist rather than naturalist traditions and as such transform, transpose and synthesize in the search for the essential in any particular place. Some "places" indeed exist more in my mind than the world You can see more of Lauries work on his web site at www.laurierudling.co.uk/.
