Accident and Emergency Children's Resuscitation Bay

ARTS DonkeysThe Children’s Resuscitation Bay in the Accident and Emergency Department is due to have a makeover with thanks to the Friends of the Norwich Hospitals. Artist Kate Green has designed new artworks in line with the overall beach theme which gives a unique identity for all of the Children’s Areas.

vodafoneThe Vodafone Foundation has generously funded a two month post for Will Williams through there Vodafone World of a Difference Programme. Will who has been volunteering for the Hospital Arts Project has now joined our team. Will is one of 39 winners who have been selected and the Hospital Arts Project is one of 15 Charities located in the Eastern Region to be funded through the World of a Difference Programme.

ARTS apple tree

Work is underway on Cringleford Ward. The scheme has been based on the works of Alfonse Mucha who was a leading artist of the Art Nouveau movement. Featured is a designed tree by Kate Green. Images by Alfonse Mucha himself have been donated by the Mucha Foundation and the Bridgeman Art Library in London.

Orange tree by Kate GreenThe Hospital Arts Project is carrying out extensive work on Cringleford Ward as part of Octagon and Serco’s programme of refurbishment. Local artist Kate Green has designed trees for the Ward which will compliment specially printed ceramic tiles with the work of Alfonse Mucha. These Works have been generously donated by the Mucha Foundation.

Zheni WarnerThe Hospital Arts Project is receiving a very generous donation of an artwork by local artist Zheni Warner

Born in Bulgaria, Zheni Warner first came to England in her early 20's. She studied Fine Art Painting at Norwich School and has an extensive portfolio. Throughout Zheni’s career as an artist she has exhibited throughout the UK, including the Royal Academy and the Barbican Centre in London and the Sainsbury Centre for the Visual Arts; in Rouen and Carcassonne in France and the National Gallery in Sofia. Her paintings are in private collections in Britain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Hong Kong and Australia and in public collections in Bulgaria and the UK.

New look for Cringleford Ward

The Hospital Arts Project continues working with our PFI partners Octagon and Serco on the refurbishment programme. Our next project involves creating a new and fresh scheme for Cringleford Ward. The Mucha Foundation has generously both consented to Hospital Arts using images by Alfonse Mucha and will also provide these images. Mucha was a leading artist in the Art Neavou period which will be featured around the central nurses station hub of the ward.

Major Fundraising for New Project

The Hospital Arts Project is about to embark on a major fundraising campaign for the installation of artworks into the Critical Care Complex and High Dependency Units. The schedule of works is yet to be released however fundraising needs to begin as early as possible!

Forthcoming Exhibitions

This mans armySerco Facilities Team are currently carrying out the last of the refurbishment of our exhibition display cases located on the Main Hospital Street of the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

Local Photographer Martin Figura is amongst our forthcoming exhibitors with his series 'Man's Army'. 'Man's Army' was created between 1992 and 1997 during his final five years in the Army. It was created as part of a residency in Horden Victory Club the residency and final exhibition was commissioned by the Side Gallery. 'Man's Army' has toured widely in the UK and Spain. Copies of the accompanying book for this exhibition can be purchased through the Hospital Arts Office.

Children's Department has a new look

Child friendly waiting areaHospital Arts created a brand new environment for Jenny Lind Outpatients, PChildren's Physiotherapyhysiotherapy, Children’s Assessment Unit and the Day Ward. This scheme has also been extended to Buxton Ward owing to popular demand!

Artists Hannah Giffard, Eloise O’hare, Luke Emery, Joe Mouncer, Kate Green and Eloise O’hare have created artworks which are of mostly a beach theme.

The scheme encompasses design, arts, furniture, toys, display and information facilities and signage. Staff are delighted with their new working environment and patients are much more comfortable.

This lovely new environment was made possible by the generosity of many funders both charitable organisations and individuals and key local businesses who contributed greatly these include the Friends of the Norwich Hospitals, The Geoffrey Whatling Trust, GGS Creative Graphics, Acre Joinery and many more. The full list of these businesses can be seen on our Funding and Contribution pages within the Hospital Arts website.

The Restaurant has also seen a makeover working with the Trust’s PFI partners and artists Squibb Design. The artworks feature birds found around the Hospital Site!

Arts Funders help to change the environment of the Children's Department

8th April 2009

Many of Norfolk and Norwich's funders have given essential funds needed to improve the environment of the Children's Department. These funders include: The Friends of the Norwich Hospitals, The Geoffrey Watling Trust, The Lind Trust, The Rotary Club ofNorwich Marchesi Benefit Fund, LSI Architects, The Royal Naval Association, The Nicola Waller Patient Care Fund, The Conrad Chapman Trust, The North Norwich Alpha Lions, Sony and many more.

The Hospital Arts Project is working closely with the staff within the Children's Unit, Octagon and Serco to make the work happen Local artists include Bafta award winning Hannah Giffard, community artist Lisa Little, community artist and furniture designer Eloise O'hare, illustrator Kate Green and newly formed Squib Design. Many locally based companies are lending their skills to contribute greatly towards this project including Acre Joinery, GGS Creative Graphics, Rackham Engineering and Mercury Phillips Signs.
