Volunteering gives you the chance to make our hospitals a little more comfortable for our patients and visitors. We have a dedicated team of approximately 675 volunteers who provide a valuable and important service to our patients, visitors and staff. They are an integral and valued part of our patient care team and provide approximately 135,000 hours of help per year.
To become a volunteer we ask for a minimum commitment of 4 hours per week. In return, we provide an exciting opportunity to meet people, learn new skills and most importantly, make a difference to people’s lives.
Most of all, volunteers need to be friendly, out-going and really enjoy being around people. If you are motivated and can commit to helping out on a regular basis (for a minimum of 4 hours per week for at least 6 months) then we want to hear from you.

Work Experience is also available through our Trust. These opportunities typically involve a short placement of shadowing staff at work in a specific area of the hospital, giving students a valuable insight into working within the NHS. For more information about work experience click here.
