NNUH staff join NHS 70 parkrun

Hundreds of runners took part in a special parkrun at the weekend to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the NHS.

Staff from NNUH took over Colney Lane parkrun on Saturday to volunteer at the event or to run, jog or walk 5k.

Parkruns across the country celebrated the 70th anniversary at the weekend and participants dressed up in NHS attire.

Almost 300 people took part in Colney Lane parkrun with the majority of the volunteers from NNUH.

Consultant Tom Roques led the crowd into a rendition of ‘Happy Birthday NHS’ ahead of the 70th anniversary, which is on 5th July.

Runners were treated to refreshments and cake afterwards and NNUH physiotherapists were on hand to rub down aching muscles.

Staff from asthma screening, a sun safety stand and Macmillan Cancer Support also attended to hand out advice and information.
