Big C Cancer Support and Information Centre
The Big C Cancer Support and Information Centre is in the grounds of the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. You will find a warm and welcoming place for people with cancer and all those who care for them. It is staffed by three nurses who are supported by volunteers.
The Centre is situated close to the hospital’s Colney Centre. The nearest car park is ward car park K.
Funding for the Centre is by Big C, a local cancer charity for Norfolk and Waveney. For more information see the Big C website
The Purpose of the Centre
The Big C Centre Norwich is here for all cancer patients and those who care for them. It is somewhere to sit, reflect and relax, away from the hospital and a clinical environment.
You do not need an appointment to call in and speak with us, sit comfortably and access information in our library.
Hats and scarves for those experiencing hair loss are available to try on and purchase during our opening hours.
The following monthly sessions do not require an appointment:
Carers’ Club (on the second Monday of every month)
The following services are available by appointment:
Look Good…….Feel Better (make-up session)
Counselling (there is a waiting list for this service following self-referral)
Family Therapy (there is a waiting list for this service following self-referral)
The HOPE course is a six week course for cancer patients living with and beyond a cancer diagnosis. It will be run at intervals throughout the year.
A Bereavement Support Group meets on alternate Thursday mornings. This therapeutic and supportive group is facilitated by a counsellor. People bereaved through cancer can self-refer to this service.
The Centre is open Monday to Friday 0930 – 16:30 and in addition until 7 pm on the first Wednesday of each month. The Centre is closed at weekends and on public holidays.
