Services Provided (Services Provided for Inpatients)
Patient catering
As an in-patient you will be provided with your meals and drinks on the ward. You will get three meals a day (with a choice of hot or cold dishes) and drinks seven times a day at a time agreed by the ward staff. Your food and drink will be brought to your bedside.
If you miss a meal you should ask for snack box and a drink. If you are well enough and check with the ward staff, you can also visit the hospital restaurant Chicory's in the West Atrium.
Special dietary needs
If you need a special diet for health reasons or have cultural or religious needs please tell our staff and they will be happy to ensure you are given appropriate meals.
We aim to provide you with meals that are nutritionally suitable. We cannot supply diets that go against best practice. If you are following a diet that has not been recommended by a healthcare professional you will find the hospital menu caters for most of your needs.
Amenity Beds
From the inception of the NHS, hospitals have included "amenity beds" which would typically be siderooms fitted more comfortably than standard facilities, where a fee is charged if more amenity is provided.
This type of service differs from being a private patient in that no professional fee is paid to the specialist and all other aspects of the clincial service provided are the same as for NHS patients.
NHS Patients can book an amenity bed on Cringleford Ward .
Smoking
We have a Smoke Free policy which means no smoking in or outside buildings, or in hospital grounds. Anyone wanting to gve up smoking can contact the NHS Norfolk Stop Smoking service on 0800 0854 113 or visit Norfolk's Cignificant website for people who want help quitting smoking.
Dayrooms
Patients and visitors have access to the ward dayrooms, which also have free terrestrial TV.
Patient Bedside Entertainment
All patients have access to their own Hospedia (formerly Patientline) bedside entertainment system that includes a telephone, radio, TV and Internet and e-mail facilities. The stations and facilities are subject to change.
Telephone
Each bedside machine includes a telephone to make and receive phone calls. Telephone card machines to use the service can be bought from dispensers at ward entrances. The system also has a loop system for the hard of hearing.
It costs 10p per minute (minimum charge 10p) to make a phone call from your bedside but anyone phoning you will be charged 49p per minute peak rate (Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm) and 39p per minute off peak (evenings and weekends).
