Coronary Care Unit (CCU)

The Coronary Care Unit (CCU) is part of the Heart Attack Centre or Primary Coronary Angioplasty (PCI) Centre of the hospital and has eight single rooms for patients with Heart Attack or Myocardial Infarction, Acute Coronary Syndrome, Heart Failure and other cardiac problems. Patients may be admitted straight from home, other hospitals or via other departments in the hospital. They will usually only stay for a short while before being moved to Kilverstone Ward or the Cardiology Elective Bay. Patients from other hospitals areas who have had primary angioplasty following heart attack may be transferred back to their local hospital after 24 hours
The Angiography department is next door to the CCU.

Visiting is at any time but should be limited to family and important friends only.Young children should only visit after discussion with the Nursing Staff
