About our Ward
The General Medical Day Unit (formerly Gunthorpe ward) is a day unit offering various medical procedures, incorporating various specialties such as Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Neurology and Oncology Medicine.
We also provide care for patients coming from home and the community requiring Intravenous (IV) therapy.
Our ward contains a specialized and purpose-built Respiratory Investigation Unit designed for specific bronchoscopy and other tests.
We also have a Radial Lounge, a bay containing recliner chairs instead of hospital beds. These are used mostly for patients undergoing cardiac investigations /procedures, but are also used for our patients requiring IV therapy. These chairs were kindly donated by the Norfolk Heart Trust.
The also has two consultation rooms, one of which is used by the Clinical Investigations Unit (CIU) for highly specialized blood tests and diagnosis for patients with endocrine and hormonal disorders.
Visitors are reminded to wash their hands, to please not sit on the beds, and to keep visiting down to two people per patient at any one time.
Your arrival time will depend on the type of procedure you are having. In order to help you better please report to reception on arrival and state the reason for your visit.
