World Cancer Day – Tuesday 4 February

We will be marking World Cancer Day this year by hosting an information event for the staff and members of the public on Tuesday 4 February 2020.
Local community organisations will be joining cancer experts from NNUH to update the public about developments in cancer care. The information event is being held in the hospital’s east atrium to mark World Cancer Day which aims to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection and treatment.

2pm to 3.15pm – There will be information stands available where everyone can find out more information about initiatives happening in our cancer teams as well as local cancer charities and support groups.

Talks for the public:
3.15pm Sarah Higson, Lead for Patient Engagement and Experience, “NNUH Patient Engagement Strategy”
3.40pm Dr Caroline Barry, Consultant in Palliative Medicine, NNUH “Are you ready for ReSPECT?”
4.15pm Vicki Wash, Cancer Change Manager, NHS CCG, Norfolk & Waveney “Increasing Awareness & Uptake of Cancer Screening in Norfolk & Waveney”

Jo Richardson, Lead Cancer Nurse for the NNUH comments that “We are proud to be supporting World Cancer Day. It is a great opportunity to showcase the excellent work of our NNUH teams and wider STP colleagues moving forward on our five year Cancer Strategy. We are delighted to invite the local community to share this event and raise local awareness of our cancer services.”
In addition, there will be an opportunity for everyone to make their #IamAndIWill pledges for World Cancer Day on our pledge board. Teas and coffees will be available.
