Stomach Bug hits NNUH
In response to an outbreak of diarrhoea and vomiting among patients, the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is asking the public, wherever possible, to avoid visiting friends and relatives in a bid to control the spread of the infection.
The hospital is also asking that if people have to visit, they ensure they maintain basic hygiene precautions, wash their hands, use the alcohol gel at all times and do not visit if they have suffered with a stomach bug in the last 48 hours or been in contact with anyone who has had a stomach bug within the last 48 hours.
The infection which is easily spread, affects people with diarrhoea and vomiting for around 24 – 48 hours. The bug has no long-lasting effects and the main risk it represents is one of dehydration.
