Serco staff and UNISON

The Board of the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital NHS Trust today voiced its support for fair pay for all staff and expressed its hope that contract staff and their employer Serco can reach an agreement on this issue quickly.

The Board met UNISON officials and members of Serco staff to discuss their concerns over a dispute with their employer Serco regarding rates of pay. Serco staff who are UNISON members are currently being balloted for industrial action.

Serco staff provide cleaning, catering and portering services at the hospital and members of UNISON are campaigning for Serco staff to have the same proposed pay and conditions NHS staff are getting under the Agenda For Change reforms.

Trust chairman David Prior said: “We understand the Serco staff position. Everyone deserves fair pay and we hope that Serco and their employees can reach an agreement without recourse to industrial action. As a Board we have asked Serco to resolve this matter as speedily as possible with their employees.”
