NNUH stands down from major incident

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital stood down at 6.30pm from a major incident (MAJAX) standby launched in response to the terrorist explosions which took place in London.

MAJAX Standby was declared at 11.10am and meant the hospital carried on as normal but took the necessary steps to prepare to receive casualties should it be necessary.

Chief executive Paul Forden praised staff from all agencies for their professional and rapid response to the morning events.

“Colleagues performed very well. Our major incident plan is well-rehearsed and it was pleasing to see how quickly we geared up. Our thoughts go out to the people of London and our emergency service colleagues in the capital.”
