Architects Murphy Philipps have been chosen to take plans for the new Cromer Hospital into the next phase. They will be working closely with NHS staff and other key stakeholders over the next few months to ensure that the new hospital complex meets the needs of the local community for many years to come.
The architects, James Philipps and Daryl Murphy, have broad experience of designing community hospitals and out-patient services and are looking forward to the challenge of adding Cromer to their portfolio.
Rita Bell, North Norfolk PCT Director of Commissioning, said: “The architects have already started initial meetings with the staff to ensure from the beginning of their design work they are listening to the clinical needs. This is a great start. Feedback from staff is that they are excited at the details of the ideas discussed.”
A project manager is currently being appointed by the Trust, to be based in Cromer. The next stage of the process is to prepare the outline business case for presentation to the Strategic Health Authority next January.
Two sites are currently under consideration for the new hospital – one in Norwich Road, Cromer, and the other in Holt Road, close to North Norfolk District Council’s offices. It is planned the hospital will open in 2007/2008.
