Ward refurbishments underway
The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital's ward refurbishment programme picks up pace from this month.
The refurbishment programme started in July with Docking ward being refurbished and following the completion of the refurbishment the low dependency unit currently on Brundall has just moved into Docking ward.
Brundall ward has now become the hospital's decant ward, and over the coming months will be the temporary home to other wards undergoing a top-to-toe overhaul.
Each ward refurbishment takes around eight weeks and involves testing of all systems including electrics, medical gas, ventilation, water and heating services, fire detection, redecoration and some laying of new flooring, plus a deep clean of all fixtures and fittings.
The next temporary ward moves will be:
- Gunthorpe ward is due to move to Brundall on Sept 9th and return circa Nov 5/6th. (Note: Phone numbers will remain the same)
- Guist ward will move to Brundall around Nov 14th and return circa Jan 30th. (Note: Phone numbers will remain the same)
- Gissing ward will move to Brundall around Feb 2nd and return circa April 3rd. (Note: Phone numbers will remain the same)
- Gateley ward will move to Brundall around April 20th and return circa June 19th. (Note: Phone numbers will remain the same)
Director of Resources Anna Dugdale said: “One of the big advantages of PFI is that all our wards will be given a top-to-bottom overhaul on a regular basis. The work that's been done on the first refurbished ward will make a big difference to patients. We are in a very fortunate position that despite having a relatively new hospital we are able to maintain our facilities for patients and staff to a high standard”.
