NNUH voted best maternity unit in the country
Midwives at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital today welcomed the results of a parenting website survey that named the Norwich maternity unit as the best in the country.
The website www.babyworld.co.uk surveyed 2,000 mums between February and March 2006 and asked them to nominate a maternity unit on the basis of the quality of antenatal care, birthing experience and post-natal care.
And the babyworld.co.uk results put the Norwich maternity unit at the top:
1. Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital
2. Nottingham City Hospital
3. St Mary's Hospital, Portsmouth
4. Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield
5. Great Western Hospital, Swindon
6. Edinburgh Royal Infirmary
Head of Midwifery, Sue Marshall, said: “Needless to say I am delighted, and the midwifery team are delighted, that we are continuing to deliver a top quality service for women. I'd like to thank all those women who took the time and effort to vote for us as the best maternity centre in the country.”
The babyworld.co.uk website is the largest, independent parenting website in the UK and has 380,000 unique visitors who create more than 5 million page impressions a month.
