New non-executive director appointments

Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital NHS Trust Chairman David Prior was today pleased to announce that Sir Laurie Magnus and Mr Bolton Agnew have been appointed as non-executive directors by the NHS Appointments Commission, with effect from 1 November 2006 to 31 October 2010.

Sir Laurie Magnus lives in north Suffolk and is Chairman of the Norwich-based Eating Disorders Association, Deputy Chairman of the National Trust, and is Vice Chairman of Lexicon Partners, a corporate finance business. His business background is in investment banking.

Mr Bolton Agnew lives in north Norfolk and has a professional background as a solicitor. Bolton is Chairman of Practical Car and Van Rental, Chairman of Rival Insurance Services Ltd, and Director of the Norfolk Churches Trust.

Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital Chairman David Prior said: “I am delighted that Laurie and Bolton are joining the Trust. They both have strong business careers as well as a strong commitment to our local community.”

The appointments have been made in accordance with the Commissioner for Public Appointments Code of Practice. All non-executive appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the Nolan recommendations there is a requirement for appointee political activity to be made public.

Sir Laurie Magnus and Mr Bolton Agnew have no political affiliations and no other ministerial appointments.  They will both receive a remuneration of £5,730 a year.
