Hospital magazine wins excellence award

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital's magazine picked up a top communications award in the Chartered Institute of Public Relations Pride Awards 2006 for East Anglia.

The Communications team at NNUH picked up the silver award, in the category of Best Newspaper or Magazine, for the hospital's bi-monthly publication The Pulse.

The magazine was launched in April 2002, is produced in-house and is not funded from NHS monies. The CIPR judges said said: “The Pulse is a bright colourful magazine, which uses photography well. It is very good value for money but is also professional and well written. It contains lots of good features about staff and topical issues and manages to appeal to a very diverse and wide-ranging readership.”

Head of communications Andrew Stronach said: “We're really pleased to have beaten stiff competition from both private and public sectors to win this award. We know The Pulse is popular but it's always great to be recognised by your peers for the good work we are doing.”

The NNUH communications team is comprised of Sue Jones, Hayley Gerrard and Andrew Stronach. The Pulse is available in hospital reception areas and online (see link below)
