NNUH medico-legal book up for national award
A legal textbook for doctors that has arisen from the work of the legal team at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital has been shortlisted in the Medical Book Awards 2007.
The medico-legal book, Law for Doctors; Principles and Practicalities (3rd edition), has been short-listed in the category of best Medico-Legal Book and is authored by NNUH head of legal services John Paul Garside.
The book is a concise guide to medical law and the legal issues that commonly arise in healthcare, in less than 100 pages and for under £15. The book has been well received by reviewers.
The Ulster Medical Society review stated: This book is a gem. It should be read by every doctor regardless of speciality. It should also be available in every hospital department and in all health centres.
The awards final is being held at the Royal Society of Medicine in London on 14 November. Copies of the book are available in the NNUH and UEA libraries and further details are on the RSM website at www.rsmpress.co.uk
