Hospital staff star in TV series Kingdom

The next episode of the TV series Kingdom will feature scenes filmed at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and hospital staff in unfamiliar roles.

The episode being broadcast on Sunday January 20 features scenes involving actor Richard Briers's character in hospital. The scenes were shot in July 2007 at the NNUH's Brundall ward. At that point the ward was empty as part of a ward refurbishment programme.

Nine hospital staff from a range of professions took part in the filming in their own time as extras and will be eagerly watching Sunday's broadcast at 9.20pm.

Community dietitian Katherine Paterson swapped her normal uniform to become a patient for the Kingdom filming and said: “It was a refreshing change for a day. I found the whole experience very insightful. An incredible amount of work goes on behind the scenes for every minute you see on TV. No wonder Stephen Fry has a stand in.”
