Open day for women's cancer group

An open day for women with secondary breast and gynaecological cancers will take place on Friday 6 June at Mangreen Hall, near Norwich.

The day is being organised by the Rosemary Group, which was set up by breast cancer nurse specialists at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital to give women living with the disease the opportunity to meet and support each other.

Two independent facilitators run the group, in liaison with professionals at the hospital, and the weekly meetings provide an opportunity for women with cancer to talk and share their experiences, and to focus on living fully, right now.

Group facilitator Ruth Porter commented: “We know there arelots of women living locally who could benefit from being part of a group like this and we are always ready to welcome new members. Sometimes it’s easier to share your thoughts and experiences about cancer with other patients than with close family and friends.”

The calendar of events is varied, with sessions ranging from reflexology and relaxation skills to make-up and creative writing. Occasional outings are arranged and these always include the chance of a lunch together.

Meetings take place in the beautiful, relaxed country setting of Mangreen Hall, which is just a few minutes from Norwich city centre (off A140 near Dunston Hall).

The Open Day offers a chance to meet group members and experience what is on offer. We welcome everyone involved or interested, personally or professionally, including friends and families.
