Hospital open day takes place on 27th June 2009

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital will be opening its doors to the public from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 27th June 2009. Visitors will be able to find out more about their own health, see what goes on behind the scenes, try one of the activities or look around the jobs and careers fair.

Chairman David Prior said:  “We want to showcase some of the excellent work that goes on within the hospital and give the public a chance to visit us on a day when they don’t have an appointment.  All the activities are free and we have catered for all age groups.”

People will be able to try a range of activities such as having a go at keyhole surgery or making their own pharmaceutical cream.  There is also the opportunity to see how the labs work, look around an operating theatre or see the pharmacy robot in action.  Many of the activities will be educational and suitable for children.  Young children will also have the opportunity to take their teddy to the ‘Well teddy clinic’ or make an artwork for the hospital.

Visitors can also find out more about heart health, respiratory health, looking after their skin, and cancer treatment.  A recruitment and careers fair is also being held for those looking for a career in healthcare.

There will be free entry to the event with no need to book, plus free car parking.
