NNUH reaches over 1,000 followers on twitter
The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has gained over 1,000 followers on twitter making it the most followed NHS hospital trust on twitter.
The Norwich-based hospital has been tweeting since April 2009 including news updates, health information and events.
Twitter is a free social networking and microblogging service that enables its users to send and read messages known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters displayed on the author's profile page and delivered to the author's subscribers who are known as followers.
Twitter was launched in 2006 and is used by more than 18 million people around the world rising from an approx 6 million users in 2008. Twitterers include Norfolk based Stephen Fry and TV presenter Phillip Schofield. It has been estimated that membership will rise to 26 million in 2010.*
