£1 per person for hospital park and ride

Members of the public are being reminded that it can be less fuss by bus when visiting the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital with a £1 per person fare from the Costessey Park and Ride.

As the busiest hospital in the region with over 2,000 outpatient appointments and nearly 1,000 visitors a day, a parking space at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital cannot always be guaranteed.

The 'It's less fuss by bus' campaign offers travel from the Costessey Park and Ride to the hospital for just £1 per person. The cost of parking at the hospital is £2.00 for 3 hours. Travel time from the Costessey Park and Ride to the NNUH is just takes about 12 minutes depending on the time of day.

There is no service on bank holidays or at weekends. The last bus from the Costessey Park & Ride site to the hospital will depart at 1600, and the last bus from the hospital to the Park & Ride is 1810.

Simon Wardale, NNUH Travel Co-ordinator, added: “We are very keen that more people make use of the good public transport links we have to the Costessey Park and Ride. We know that some people will have to park at the hospital but there are many people who could use the park and ride service as a cheaper and more environmentally-friendly option.”

For people with a concessionary passes bus services are free, subject to the normal rules*.

Visitors are also reminded that the cost of parking at the hospital is just £2 on Saturdays and Sundays and during evenings (after 5.30pm).
