Next meeting of hospital Governors

The next Council of Governor's meeting at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital takes place this week from 10am – 1pm on Wednesday 24th November 2010.

There will be a regular update on the quality, safety and performance of services.  Other items on the agenda include a briefing on the quality improvement measures being planned for hospital services and an update on staffing issues.     

All NHS Foundation Trusts have a Council of Governors which represents the views of patients, public and staff.     As space is limited at the meeting, members of the public who are interested in attending should contact the Membership Office on 01603 287634 or e-mail membership@nnuh.nhs.uk

The Council of Governors for the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was set up in April 2008.  It was formed after elections where the Trust’s members and staff were able to vote for the candidates they wanted to represent them on the council.   

There are 15 public Governors who each represent a geographical area in Norfolk or Waveney.  There are also six staff Governors who each represent a staff group, plus four appointed Governors from local organisations – The University of East Anglia, NHS Norfolk, Norfolk County Council and a representative from the District Councils.       

Membership of the Trust is free and open to anyone aged over 12 years’ old living in Norfolk or Waveney.  Members can receive the Trust’s newsletter and have the opportunity to get involved in areas that interest them.   They can also vote in elections or stand for election as a Governor.  To join as a member, either go online at www.nnuh.nhs.uk or ring 01603 287634 for a membership form.
