New Governors at Norfolks largest NHS Foundation Trust
Three new Governors have been appointed to the Council of Governors for the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Terry Nye will be representing the public in Broadland, Pamela Ford will be representing the public in Norwich and Sue Burt will represent the Trust's Nursing and Midwifery staff.
Mr Nye is a retired Chartered Engineer with experience in health care planning and estate development. He spent 30 years working in the NHS and a further 16 years working abroad.
Miss Ford worked as a nurse for 38 years with the last 25 years before retirement being spent at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.
Ms Burt is a Sister and Emergency Nurse Practitioner in the Accident and Emergency Department at NNUH and has experience representing nurses having been a Steward for the Royal College of Nursing.
Chairman of NNUH David Prior said: We are delighted to welcome such experienced people onto our Council of Governors. They will make a positive contribution and ensure that our hospitals are closely in tune with both our staff and the community we serve.
All NHS Foundation Trusts have a Council of Governors and its role is to represent the interests of the members when services are developed for the future.
Notes to editors
The Council of Governors was formed in April 2008 following elections where the Trusts members and staff were able to vote for the candidates they wanted to represent them on the council.
There are 15 public Governors who each represent a geographical area in Norfolk or Waveney. There are also six staff Governors who each represent a staff group, plus four appointed Governors from local organisations The University of East Anglia, NHS Norfolk, Norfolk County Council and a representative from the District Councils.
Membership of the Trust is free and open to anyone aged over 12 years old living in Norfolk or Waveney. Members can receive the Trusts newsletter and have the opportunity to get involved in areas that interest them. They can also vote in elections or stand for election as a Governor.
