Cyclists to have leg waxed
Male members of Velo Club Norwich, the city's largest cycling club, are to have a sponsored leg wax with the help of a Norwich beauty salon on Friday 3rd June in a bid to raise funds for the Norwich Cots for Tots Appeal.
This event will also mark the launch of A Touch of Beauty on Hall Road donating 25% of its takings between Monday 6th June Friday 17th June to the Norwich Cots for Tots Appeal.
Samantha Moore, Manager of a Touch of Beauty said “I wanted support a local cause and as a mother of two this appeal really touched me. If anyone would like to book an appointment with us or just make a donation give us a call on 01603 766633.”
Rob Stronge, Chairman of Velo Club Norwich said Were really pleased to be supporting such a worth-while cause. As keen cyclists, we are certainly not adverse to shaving our legs, but now we have a genuine reason to de-hair with money raised going to the Norwich Cots for Tots Appeal. It would be great to see as many people as possible on the 3 June supporting the event and baring their legs with us!
Consultant neonatologist Dr Mark Dyke said: Were very grateful to both the members of the Velo Club Norwich, and also to Touch of Beauty for getting behind our appeal and organising this fundraiser. Every donation, no matter its size, will make a real difference to us and the babies we look after.
The Norwich Cots for Tots appeal is raising money to pay for an additional 4 cots in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), which will increase the number of cots from 28 to 32. This means more babies can be cared for locally. The NICU is one of only three specialist neonatal units in the East of England. When we are at capacity babies have to be sent to the nearest unit in either Cambridge or Luton. The demand for specialist care is rising; NICU currently cares for over 850 premature and critically ill babies in a year. Supporting our appeal means local babies can be cared for locally.
Leg wax will take place at 6.30pm on Friday 3rd June 2010 Touch of Beauty, located in Hair to Impress, St John's Close, off Hall Road, Norwich
