Second Carers’ Café at NNUH next week

The second Carers’ Café takes place at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital on Wednesday 20th July from 12.30pm to 2.30pm in the hospital’s East Atrium.

It is being run with the help of the Norwich and District Carers’ Forum which will have representatives on hand to give advice on a range of subjects such as money issues and sources of support.

Refreshments will be available and the Carers’ Café is open to anyone who cares for a friend or relative.  It is being trialled at different times of the day to see what suits carers.

NNUH’s Assistant Director of Nursing Dawn Collins, says “Our first carers’ café got off to a good start and we are looking forward to the next one.  Having a relative in hospital can be a very stressful time and we can offer carers practical help and time to talk.”

Christine Butler, from Norwich and District Carers’ Forum, said:  “Our role is to help carers with practical issues, such as claiming benefits, coping with stress and relationship changes.”

The Carers’ Café is part of a strategy to support carers which involves improved staff awareness and training for carers.
