Launch of a new website for the Jenny Lind Children's Hospital
Children and staff at the Jenny Lind Children's Hospital today launched a new website featuring an eye-catching beach huts design that gives our services a more child-friendly design.
Earlier this year nearly 700 people voted to chose their favourite artwork for the new Jenny Lind Children's Hospital identity and website. The most popular choice was a beach huts design based on the work of Norfolk artist Hannah Giffard.
The new website is designed to draw on the artwork in the children's hospital at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital which has a strong local theme of beaches and the broads. The artwork and the new website have been entirely developed in-house.
The launch of the new website www.nnuh.nhs.uk/jennylind was marked with the cutting of a commemorative cake in the beach huts design by children and staff. The cake was made by Aylsham-based Sweet Bites Bakery.
Associate Medical Director and consultant Neonatologist Dr Mark Dyke , said “Our doctors, nurses and therapists strongly believe that our local children's hospital needed a more child-friendly and prominent identity. We deliver healthcare to thousands of children from across Norfolk and North Suffolk and we really hope people will take this opportunity to visit our new website.”
The city's children's hospital is named after a famous nineteenth century Swedish opera singer whose Norwich concerts raised money for a children's infirmary. The original hospital opened in 1854 and made Norwich only the second city to have a children's infirmary.
