BBC Look East Presenter to Officially Open MLBU
The Midwifery-led Birthing Unit (MLBU) at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital will be officially opened on Friday 4th November by BBC Look East Presenter Susie Fowler-Watt.
The MLBU offers women a more relaxed and homely environment in which to have a natural birth if the delivery is expected to be low-risk. There are four birthing rooms and three birthing pools.
The philosophy of the midwifery-led birthing unit is to provide one-to-one care and support women throughout the process of birth without intervention.
Pam Sizer, MLBU Midwifery Manager said “Following our opening in August this unit has been a great success for women and has provided an additional choice of place for women to give birth. It offers greater opportunity for women to have waterbirths and has the advantage of having medical assistance nearby should the need arise.”
