Shoppers can find out more about hospital volunteering at Chapelfield

The Voluntary Service Team from the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital will be at Chapelfield from 9am to 8pm on Thursday 7th June to advise on the many different volunteering opportunities available at the hospital.

It is part of the celebrations for Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June) which is an annual event which celebrates the contribution that millions of volunteers make across the UK.

The awareness Week is designed to raise the profile of the millions of volunteers who regularly contribute to society, while inspiring others to get involved too. Up and down the country, individuals and organisations will hold events to celebrate the contribution of volunteers and inspire others to take part.

Sally Knights, Voluntary Services Manager at NNUH says: “We have over 600 volunteers working in many different roles such as meeting and greeting, supporting patients at mealtimes, collecting patient views about their care and many other roles which enhance the patient’s experience in our hospital.”

Chapelfield’s general manager Davina Tanner said: “Chapelfield is pleased to be supporting national Volunteers’ Week and helping our customers to find out about the wide range of opportunities available at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.”

This is part of a series of events being run in partnership between Chapelfield and the NNUH, to bring health information and advice to local people. Over the next few months, there will be other health events at Chapelfield covering arthritis, diabetes and how patients can get more help from the NHS – through the Patient Advice and Liaison Service – to deal with concerns about their healthcare.
