Public invited to hear about latest developments on prostate cancer
Members of the public are being invited to hear about how the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is leading the way on research into prostate cancer prevention and the affects of diet as part of the NHS Foundation Trust's annual general meeting (AGM).
Mr Rob Mills, consultant urologist and clinical director, will talk about the significant developments in prostate cancer research and the affects that diet may have on reducing prostate cancer risk. This research is being carried out in collaboration with scientists on the Norwich Research Park at the Institute of Food Research and University of East Anglia.
This talk forms part of the Trust's AGM and will be taking place on Thursday 27th September with an exhibition from 3pm and the AGM running from 3.30pm until 5.30pm. The exhibition will have displays on the different aspects of hospital care including patient catering, research and patient safety campaigns.
The public meeting will take place at the John Innes Conference Centre, Norwich Research Park, Colney, Norwich, NR4 7UH. There will be no charge for car parking.
David Prior, Chairman of the Trust, says: “This is an opportunity for the public to come along and find out more about our hospitals and how they are performing and the challenges ahead. It is also a chance for us to highlight some of the advances we are making into research.
“We will also be hearing about our continuous programme of in-house CQC style inspections which runs on our inpatient wards. We are very fortunate to have a number of external organisations such as Age UK and the Older People's Forum, as well as governors elected by the public, who give up their time to join our own staff in inspecting inpatient wards rigorously to check standards against a strict CQC criteria. This programme gives us important information to help improve our standards and is a crucial way of building in external and independent feedback on our wards everyday.”
