NNUH Cardiology team to run Norwich Half Marathon

A team of 12 runners, including three consultants cardiologists, six nurses, a ward clerk, a physiologist and a cardiologists wife from the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) are to run the Norwich Half Marathon on Sunday 25th November to raise monies for charity.

The money raised will be split between the Norfolk Heart Trust and a new charity called JDP defib fund which aims to put defibrillators into schools. This new charity was set up in memory of Janyne Durrant Pratt, a patient who sadly died recently. Janyne had previously been resuscitated by an off duty paramedic whilst on her school run with an automatic defibrillator.

Simon Bowles, NNUH Arrhythmia Specialist Nurse who has pulled the team together said “It costs £1000 to pay for a defibrillator in the community and we wanted to help this worthy cause which is dear to us! Some of our number will also be sporting smart moustaches in support of Movember”
