National bike challenge for fundraising couple

Emma and Peter Bussey from Norwich are on track to raise over £3,000 for the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital this weekend, by taking on a gruelling bike ride travelling the length of the country, twice!

Peter is taking part in the London-Edinburgh-London bike ride from 28th July. Participants have a maximum of six days starting on 28th July to complete the route, but, following a challenge from his boss and the promise of further sponsorship, the 51-year-old aims to do it in three days and hopes to cycle from London to Edinburgh non-stop! It will mean cycling for about 18 hours a day with a maximum of four hours sleep with meal breaks.

Emma and her husband decided to help fundraise for the hospital charity following Emma’s diagnosis of oesophageal cancer in October 2012. They also organised a successful concert held by Scunsulata on 30th June which raised over £800. These are just two of the fundraising events the couple and their friends have planned to raise money for an additional piece of equipment for patients who have undergone thoracic surgery for cancer.

Louise Cook, Fundraising Manager at NNUH, said: “The passion and commitment that Emma, Peter and their friends and family have shown to the hospital charity is incredible. We are so grateful for all their support.”
