Auction of Promises for Charity
The Kings Head in Laxfield is holding an auction of promises evening on Friday 30 August 2013 in aid of the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH).
Over the last six years Mr and Mrs Bob Wilson, landlords of The Kings Head (also known as The Low House), and their customers, have raised several thousand pounds for a range of charities and have chosen the Targeted Radiotherapy Appeal (TRA) as one of the charities to benefit from monies raised.
Bob Wilson, who has recently undergone treatment for cancer at the NNUH said, We always try and support local charities and when I heard about the hospital charity and how they are trying to help cancer patients we wanted to do our bit and not only raise money but let people know about the appeal.
The auction of promises evening will include a subsidised bar, BBQ and music from the Broadside Boys and many amazing auction prizes on offer.
Dr Tom Roques, Consultant Oncologist at NNUH, said: We are so pleased that The Kings Head have decided to help raise money for our Targeted Radiotherapy Appeal. I am sure this will be a huge success as so many people love The Low House and will want to help one of their local hospitals.”
Louise Cook added: We are so grateful to everyone who is supporting our Targeted Radiotherapy Appeal and are always looking for people like Bob and Linda, to get involved in fundraising, to help raise our target of £600,000.”
The money raised through the TRA will be used to create state-of-the-art facilities for people undergoing internal radiotherapy, known as high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy. The new facilities will allow more patients to benefit from reduced treatment times and also means some patients can be treated closer to home.
