Local Businesses Support Bike for Cancer Event
The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NNUH) along with local businesses, intu Chapelfield and Cycles UK are urging all budding cyclists across Norfolk to join the annual Cambridge to Norwich 77 mile Bike Ride on 29 September 2013.
Intu Chapelfield is supporting the bike ride again this year, not just by entering a team of cyclists but by sponsoring the medals for all the participants. Cycles UK will be there on the day providing safety checks for cyclists and will be generously donating a gift voucher for the goody bags.
Money raised this year will go towards NNUHs Target Radiotherapy Appeal, which needs to raise £600,000 to provide facilities to deliver a new type of radiotherapy for patients with prostate and other types of cancers at the NNUH. Brachytherapy reduces the number of treatments required for prostate cancer and will mean patients can receive treatment locally rather than travelling to Cambridge or London.
Sheridan Smith, intu Chapelfields marketing manager said, For the last two years we have been welcoming health professionals from NNUH in to the shopping centre to run health awareness events. We are delighted to continue our support for the hospital by getting involved with the NNUH charity bike ride. We are sure it will be a fantastic event and were glad to be able to provide all the participants with a medal to reward their pedal-power.”
Danny Taylor, Area Manager for Cycles UK, said: This is a great ride and a great cause and we wanted to be part of making this day a success.
Louise Cook, Fundraising Manager said: “It is getting closer to the bike ride and we are urging cyclists to sign up today and help us continue providing the best possible care and treatment to our cancer patients. We are delighted that intu Chapelfield and Cycles UK have taken such an active role in our fundraising event by supporting us in this way.”
The ride starts in Cambridge before taking in the stunning countryside of Newmarket, Bury St Edmunds and Wymondham finishing in Norwich.
