A new partnership between a North Norfolk school and Cromer and District Hospital has been launched.
The programme has been developed with the aim of involving Cromer Academy students with the much-loved hospital and for staff to share their experience and knowledge with students who may be interested in a career in the NHS.
The programme involves six main areas:
Hospital staff will talk to students about the 350 different careers available in the NHS
A six-week observational programme for Year 9s will introduce the students to what it is like to work in different areas of the hospital
Hospital staff will take assemblies at the Academy to describe the work of the hospital
Students will continue to take part in hospital community events for example, they sang carols at the hospital at Christmas
Year 8 students will work with the hospitals meet and greet volunteers
Academy students will be encouraged and advised how to apply for hospital apprenticeships commencing from September 2014
Helen Lloyd, Operational Manager of Cromer Hospital, said: We are really excited to be working so closely with Cromer Academy and look forward to showing the students what a vibrant place Cromer Hospital is to work. Its fantastic for the staff to be able to take part and influence this group of young people who could end up having a career in the NHS.
Discussions are also being held about the academys students getting involved in the Benjamin Court Centre.
The community hospital is one of the biggest employers on the North Norfolk Coast.
