Emergency exercise at NNUH
Patients and visitors to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital are being advised that an emergency exercise is taking place on Wednesday 8th October 2014.
Staff will be undergoing an emergency training exercise from 9am until 2pm with a small number of volunteers acting as casualties. The training exercise aims to test how hospital staff would respond to a major incident, such as a road crash involving multiple casualties to a large chemical spill or explosion. Exercises such as this help the NHS to evaluate the effectiveness of a response to a major incident and develop their emergency plans.
During the exercise the volunteer casualties will attend the hospitals Emergency Department.
The hospital will remain open as usual and patients should experience little or no disruption during the exercise.
