Winners of NNUH Staff Awards 2014 announced

Twenty-eight individuals and 8 teams from the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) have received awards in recognition of their outstanding efforts and achievements. The NNUH annual Staff Awards took place at The Forum in Norwich on 10th October with guest host ITV Anglia presenter Jonathan Wills.

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust runs an annual awards scheme for its 7000 staff and volunteers. Patients and colleagues have been able to nominate employees in thirteen award categories, such as research, leadership, clinical teacher of the year and lifetime achievement.

Chairman of NNUH John Fry said: “We are thrilled to be able to recognise those employees and teams who patients and colleagues feel have gone above and beyond the call of duty. It is also a pleasure to recognise those individuals who dedicate their working lives to our hospitals. We received over 450 nominations this year, many of them from patients with wonderful heart-warming stories to tell.”

The Patient Choice Award is supported by the Eastern Daily Press and Adam Gretton, Health Correspondent and one of the judges presented the award to the winners and finalists at this year’s ceremony. The awards have been sponsored by Serco which provides a range of services at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, including catering and cleaning. The Unsung Hero award for non-clinical staff, such as medical secretaries and administrative staff, is sponsored by Dave Batchelor in memory of his late wife Denise Batchelor who worked as a medical secretary at NNUH for 19 years.
