Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital Hethel Ward to receive kind donation

Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS FoundationTrust (NNUH) has received a kind donation to its Hethel Ward.

Mr Roy Flowerdew presented £2,000 in memory of his wife, Mrs Jean Flowerdew following a collection from family and friends.

Mr Flowerdew from Burgh Ampton said: “My wife Jean was a patient at the N&N and I know that Jean was very happy whilst being cared for on Hethel Ward and would be pleased to know that the money raised has been put towards items which will help both staff, patients as well as relatives of patients staying on the ward.”

Hethel ward treats patients with a wide variety of respiratory conditions and thanks to the generous gift, a glideaway bed, for family members to sleep beside a patient who is very unwell has been purchased, plus a fridge, hand held fans and an Oximeter for recording patient oxygen levels. The donation will also pay for further meters and other respiratory equipment in the future.

The large fridge is used to store patient supplement drinks to aid recovery as well as to be used by staff on a 12 hours shift to store their meals.

Karen Hall, Hethel Ward Sister said: “We are incredibly grateful for the donation from the Flowerdew family. The kind gift has enabled us to buy equipment to improve the comfort of a patients stay whilst they are with us on Hethel Ward.”
