Wanted: People Who Make A Difference
A hospital charity is seeking new Trustees so that it can expand and help even more patients and families.
The Friends of the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is a group of volunteers who fundraise on behalf of the hospital. The money raised is distributed in grants to departments and wards for specific items that will help to improve the experience of the patients and their families. The Friends want to strengthen the group and are looking to recruit new trustees.Richard Drew, Chair of the NNUH Friends said: “We are looking for people from a range of backgrounds and ages to be trustees – enthusiastic individuals who really want to make a difference and will make time to make it happen.“Maybe you have experience and understanding of the NHS and want to give something back, or maybe you are just keen to get involved with a local charity. We promise to value your input and help you to develop and grow with the charity.
“If accepted as a trustee you will be expected to attend meetings, plus have time available to make a meaningful contribution to the charity’s development. The amount of time required will vary depending on the specific role or activity. The group meets every two months and meetings are held at the main hospital in the evenings.”
Examples of projects funded by the Friends of NNUH include new wheelchairs to help patients from the car park and around the hospital more comfortably, and an outside water sculpture and seating area for patients and staff to relax and have a quiet moment.
If you are interested in joining the Friends then please get in touch for an informal chat with the Chair, Richard Drew on 01508 558527 or email Richard Drew
Notes to editors:The Friends of Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is a group of volunteers who fundraise on behalf of the hospital along with nominated Trust staff. Decisions about how to spend funds is decided by the Trustees on receipt of an application at bimonthly meetings. In order to support the work of the hospital, grants are given to departments and wards for specific items that will help to improve the experience of patients and their families. Since 2009 the Friends of NNUH have donated over £300,000 in grants. They continue the good work carried out by the previous Friends of Norwich Hospitals Charity which was concluded in 2010.
