Cancer Choir to support Hospital World Cancer Day Event
The Shades of Pink Choir will be helping to mark World Cancer Day at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital at a special event on the 4th of February.
The Choir is led by a current NNUH patient and was set up two years ago. It welcomes family members and friends of those affected in any way by cancer.
Alex Jenning, Choir member said: “Singing has immense health and well-being benefits but pleasure and fun are at the heart of this choir. Members, many of whom have never sung in a choir, find it an uplifting experience and we are delighted to be supporting the hospital with their World Cancer Day event.”
The choir was formed from support group ‘Sport action for women after cancer’ and provided opportunities to participate in Badminton, Hatha Yoga and Aqua Stretch exercise classes, or a combination of all these activities.
Louise Cook, NNUH Fundraising Manager added: “The event will provide information on treatments and support for patients with cancer and their families, and also what our patients, such as the choir, have achieved. The choir is one way to gain support from other people going through the same thing and it has been a great advocate of the hospital charity as a whole.”
The Choir can be seen on the 4th of February in the West Atrium, Level 4 at 11am. Stalls and information stands will be in the East Atrium level 2 from 11am.
