More than 70% so far of staff at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals have opted in to its “Proud to be an NNUH flu fighter!” campaign and are now vaccinated against flu this year.

It is the Trust’s best ever performance on flu vaccinations as NNUH aims for as many staff as possible to benefit from a flu vaccination before Christmas, providing staff with daily opportunities to have their free flu jab to protect their patients, colleagues and families.

Hilary Winch, the Trust’s head of health and wellbeing said: “The campaign is going tremendously well and we take the flu vaccination programme very seriously.  We have tried to provide as many varied opportunities as possible for staff to have their flu jab and that seems to be working really well.

“We are spreading the message whenever and wherever possible far and wide around our hospitals and staff are taking their professional responsibility by being vaccinated. It is important as health care workers that we prepare ourselves for the winter season in order to protect our patients – we are Proud to be NNUH flu fighters!”

Mark Davies, chief executive of NNUH said: “The Proud to be an NNUH flu fighter campaign is going extremely well.  I give my thanks to the vaccination teams and all the staff having their flu jabs so that we can protect our patients, our colleagues and our families.  We are a flu fighting Trust.”
